I’ve been teaching drum lessons in the Santa Cruz area since 1996. I’m very passionate about sharing my experience and inspiring my students. In addition to teaching private lessons; I write articles for Istanbul Memhet’s online educational blog, I’m an instructor at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center’s summer jazz camp and participate in their Artist In Schools program.

Drum clinics are a great excuse for drummers of all levels to come together and hang. Everyone can learn something from watching master drummers do their thing. I’ve been networking with artists to coordinate these drum clinics and hopefully make them more frequent in the future.
Next drum clinic is March 31, 2019 with Thomas Lang!
October 2017 I put on a drum clinic with Mark Guiliana. We had 125 people in attendance. It was truly an amazing event.
Hosting guest teachers at my studio is a great way for my students to get one on one instruction with some of the greats. Most of the time they’re passing through town or gigging in the area; I’ll book them a few hours of students or a full day depending on their schedule.
I’ve hosted many guest teachers at my studio including: Stanton Moore, Allison Miller, Aaron Comess, Bernard Purdie, Ulysses Owens JR., Nikki Glaspie, Matt Wilson and Gregory Hutchinson. Please feel free to reach out to me if you are interested in either being a guest teacher or would like to be on my call list when I’m hosting.
